The author immediately draws you in to the story. It is written in sections from each characters point of view all the way through, beginning with Sarah and Phil and Phil's suspicion of an affair because of a DNA test on one of his children. This lasts a very short time but begins a series of very well written emotional episodes that reshape their lives and involves people they were not originally aware of. The children involved are all teenagers and you can recognise the emotional ups and downs of their lives as they work out how to be with each other. The couple's strong marriage is put to the test and you do not know how the situation is going to resolve itself until the very last page.
