This wasn’t like most books I read and so it’s hard for me to gage to against other books.

This book, the second child, was a good read that I finished in a few sittings. It follows the lives of one family (Sarah, Phil, James and Lauren) after they discover the horrifying truth that their special needs daughter is not in fact theirs. It then follows Anne and Rosie and they find out that Rosie and Lauren were switched after birth and living with the wrong families for the last 15 years.

The book follows the families as they get to know each other better and shows the cracks and the bonds forming within each character.

The ending of the book, without giving anything away, is a massive plot twist which changes the perspective of the whole situation to the reader.

I loved how the author wrote about the disability that Lauren had in a way that showed what it is like to have to live and care for someone with a disability and the things that are given up in order to keep as normal a life as possible.

I would recommend this book to others.
