This was a well written novel that dealt with some heavy topics. The author did a great job at showing the emotional state of all the characters involved and the reasoning behind the decisions they made.
I had a strong dislike for one of the characters, which I will not name as I don't want to spoil people, but by the ending of the book I realised that they were intentionally written as an unlikeable character. I also felt like the character of Phil was somewhat two dimensional when compared to how developed the other characters were but I don't think this negatively impacted the overall story too much.
This book triggered a lot of thinking about how I would react if I ever found myself in the same situation. I appreciated that the author acknowledged the many different responses people can have to the same revelation.
