This is a story of a parent’s worst nightmare, being told that your child whom you have loved for 14 years is not your biological child. The child you have lovingly raised has special needs and suddenly everything you thought you knew about your family is put in doubt. The story is told from the perspective of the major players, Sarah and Phil - the parents of James and Lauren, and then Anne and Rosie - the other mother and daughter.
I couldn’t stop turning the pages, wanting to know whether the parents would agree to a swap or what compromises would be reached. The endless meetings with the authorities, Sarah blaming herself for not realising she hadn’t taken her own daughter home after 5 days in hospital and the revelations at the end.
