Three characters, with their contrasting turmoils merge upon a street cafe. Great plot, characterisation and environment, looks like a reader.

The scene is London, a homeless chap freezing on a bench with his hapless dog. A care worker returning from shift, dropping coins into the homeless pot. Under the shadow of IVF, a barrister is preparing for her case, feeling the heartburn whilst trailing a luggage of documentation.

The characters diverge from their stereotypes, become multi faceted and adhere to your conscience, its easy to feel for their plight as the reader is placed firmly in their shoes. They are each likeable, especially the clever one legged pigeon.

There is a little cross over between the characters before they meet in the cafe, where the life changing event will begin. The busy city, the harsh cold reality forms a little world with excellent detailing such as the church box, the hedge foxes, the big issue selling.

Each story builds nicely, converging upon the event really well, this extract gives the reader enough to understand what this book is about, its well researched and written, I would like to read more.
