It’s a usual frantic and busy morning in a London cafe. But when a gunshot rings out, time stands still. For some of the customers, life will never be the same again.

I was expecting the very best from Charity Norman, and she didn’t disappoint. I've read several of her books now and she just gets better and better. What an outstandingly compelling read! As I turned the pages and learnt more about the characters in the story my heart kept on breaking. Each person had such a story to tell, and I loved each and every one of them. And although it’s usually difficult to feel any sympathy for a hostage-taker, this book had me wiping tears away whilst reading Sam's story.

I haven’t been able to put this book down, it’s heartbreaking (I’ve read the last few pages sobbing) but utterly mesmerising. I can’t recommend it enough.
