This is the first book I've read by Charity Norman, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a fast paced book full of unpredictable twists and turns. Even the start is so interesting as the owner, Robert and Sam engage in a confrontation in the Tuckbox cafe in Balham, London. A sudden shift in the atmosphere leads to a tense hostage situation as Sam shoots Robert with a shotgun. The hostages include Mutesi (a nurse in a care home), Abi (a deffence barrister) and Neil (who lives on the streets). The book is called 'the secret of strangers', as we begin to learn of everyone's stories as they share secrets.
It was difficult to put this book down, and is an enjoyable thriller novel. The characters were developed well and I highly recommend.
