"The Secrets of Strangers" is set over a day with some references to the characters' past experiences. The strangers are thrown together in a highly intense situation and forge strong relationships. The story is steady pace, with some heightened moments to keep you hooked.
I liked the character arc of the man holding the others hostage - the story of how he got to that point was tragic yet relatable in a way. The other characters were likable and familiar, and all brought their own troubles to the table.
I want sure about the lead police officer, trying to handle the situation - it felt realistic and yet somehow she seemed too desperate, although perhaps that's how it would be in real life.
The ending was inevitable but satisfying, with the prospect of hope for the future. There were a few requests and surprises to keep the reader interested, especially if you enjoy the psychology of humans.
