The language used in this book suits the time the novel is set in. Each sentence is very descriptive and adds more detail to the story while also moving forward. I have to say, the writing was really captivating.
I am pretty sure that this book belongs to a series and is the second novel of that series. Therefore while reading it, I was quite confused about some of the events. I don’t think that this book can be read as a stand alone because there are so many characters and so much background story, that I can’t keep up.
But I do like the idea and theme of this novel. I also enjoyed the historical references and that it has a suitable timeline.
Overall , I think I would have enjoyed this much more if I had read the first book.
