The cover is clear about this book - it is an historical novel that looks relatively inviting. However, I fully admit that I am not a fan of historic fiction and this book did not really excite me. It is well written with very descriptive text but Nicholas's story did not appeal to me. I'm sure other fans of historic writing ill enjoy it though
