Nicholas is our main character and he was okay. He used to be a doctor before his wife died and then he turned to drink that solved something. Because he solved something, he gets called back to solve something else. I enjoyed his character. I liked the conspiracy in this book but I won’t say much about it, it pulled me in. It isn’t a fast paced book as solving this takes time and effort but once I got into it, I found that it was quite a good book. I have to say I don’t read much historical fiction as I find it hard to focus on the story and not the history. I didn’t read the first book so I was a little lost in places but I found that I managed to read it okay. I would say that if you enjoy historical fiction, you will enjoy this book more.
