I really enjoyed this thrilling story set in London 1591. We follow Nicholas who is a doctor turned spy and Bianca who is the owner of a Tavern and Apocthecary as they both become involved in spying on a dubious Doctor and end up caught in all sorts of exciting events. It did take me a while to get into the story as I hadn't read the previous novel called The Angel's Mark but it does give you details of the previous novel so I was able to continue with the story. Once it got going it was a great page turner. The story is well written and I enjoyed the characters especially Bianca's story. I thought the description of the Elizabethian era were brilliant and realistic. I look forward to the next in this series and will recommend to anyone who enjoys historical crime stories.
