I hadn’t read the first book but thought I would give this one a go to see if it could be done without reading the first. I was very pleasantly surprised! This book is very well written and the author tells the story in a very good way. With the occasional reference to the first book, in parts it was slightly difficult to pick up the back story but nothing that stopped me reading and enjoying the book.
The characters are well developed and make for a good plot. In parts I felt as though the pace of the book could have been quicker in places.
Overall I did enjoy this book and would read another book by this author; I would even consider reading the first in the series. A good book! Like the artwork too!
