There is a lot of writing here that you can find in any formula-driven thriller of the last 20 years. I don't know if it is the writing or the translation, but it followed lines that have been much-followed in the past. There is a great pace to the book, which rattles along nicely, so you don't get the chance to become bored. Some of the characters are well-defined and you can feel their motivation - others are distinctly lacking in believability.

The story reveals itself quite early on, so you are wondering how the characters reach the end rather than what the ending actually is, which has its upsides and downsides. I'd recommend if you are new to the genre and want to get into this type of book, but if you've read them for a while then this may leave you disappointed.
