When Laura goes missing during a storm after an argument with friends, new love interest Jan is worried about her.
When her phone is discovered with a brief video of a man with painted black and white stripes on his face, Jan realises that there's a much more sinister reason for Laura's disappearance...he goes on the look for her which leaves a trail of devastation in its wake.
This book started off really well. I think due to the translation it didn't flow as well as it could have, which affected my enjoyment of the book (but this is no fault of the author).
However the story did become a little ridiculous in its plot.
And whilst Laura's mother was portrayed as a very unlikeable woman, I feel it went too far at times. There were several mentions of the fact that she's an ostomate and all very negative. I honestly think there was no need for this, particularly as the comments are offensive. One of the reasons it lost a star for me.
