I think that the setting for this book is really intriguing as feudal Japan is a fascinating historical period, particularly for those of us who haven't had the chance to learn much about the culture. My main concern is that this book is written by a Westerner, which could promote issues of cultural appropriation. However, I recognise that the point of view is that of a European traveller, so I feel a little happier about that overall. It could be great!
