I am left wanting to read more, the introduction offers an insight into a brutal period of history but more real than other historical fiction. There is no shying away from men in power impregnating young girls leading to their death, the details are not romanticised. The details regarding the plague and how people were unable to bury their dead as entire villages perished. This is real history that is very often glossed over and whitewashed. I want to now read the previous book to be up to date with the story and the characters. The cover is one that would catch my eye in a shop, leading me to investigate.
