I like history, I like historical fiction, but I didn’t enjoy reading this. It’s set in the time of the Black Death, the theme is interesting. A Lady and her serfs under siege from the Black Death. There are good and bad characters, they spend a fair bit of time talking. However there is incest, murder and plenty of death being dealt. Great yes? And yet somehow it didn’t capture my imagination. Could be that this is a sequel and the beginning didn’t warm me to the characters. Also the writing style was a little too bland, felt like reading a shopping list. But the cover of the book is good.
