I love the sound of this!

The Turn Of Midnight begins in the winter of the year 1348, as England is tormented by the Black Death. We meet the people of Dorseteshire- we learn that they may possibly be the only survivors in the country. That, and their survival is threatened more with every passing day. And so, with the aid of a young noblewoman, a young man heroically sets out in search of help or information.

This book is certainly gripping in that it's quite literally a race against time but also, for its hinting at an incredibly precarious political situation with serfs pursuing freedom and possibly, power. Not much is ever said of the instability during this plague- usually we learn of the estimated death counts and just that everyone was closed off, forced to barricade themselves behind doors. So, this world that Minnete Walters describes is wonderfully fascinating- the lives of those who remained safe! But not only that, but the reader is treated with scandalous secrets, and a gossiping, small minded society- oh the intrigue!

Who wouldn't want to know how this one ends?
