As a fan of Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth trilogy also set in the 1300's I was apprehensive about this book thinking would it be as good, it is. Set in the village of Develish in Dorsetshire it has a mix of interesting characters all of whom I want to know more about. As it is the second book in the series I would like to read it in sequence. I have enjoyed Minette Walters's modern crime books very much and this seems as well written. I like the cover and it would make me pick up this book in a book shop.
