Enjoyable
In this case you should judge a book by the cover. The cover is bright and eye catching and historical. The inside is just as good
It is 1349 and the Black Death continues to ravage England . Lady Anne and her household are still trapped in the manor. They need to know what is happening in the outside world. Thaddeus takes a small group of men to find out.
This book tells what happens to them and to those left behind. This is Minette Walters at her best . Her historical fiction is as good as her crime(there is an element of crime here too). The characters come alive and the historical detail is amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't recommend it too highly. Minette Walters is one of my favourite authors regardless of genre!
