I had exceptionally high expectations going into this book, as I enjoyed it's predecessor so much, and it did not disappoint. Walters manages to make a very complex plotline easily understood without losing the narrative voice which characterises this duology. I was looking forward to finding out where the plot would go and I enjoyed the developments. In Blandeforde I could really feel the tension, and I felt the intense position Lady Anne was in. Every word mattered and could be the difference between life or death for Thaddeus - very tense! It's always hard to end a story and I I did feel satisfied with the ending, although I wouldn't mind another few books! There were a few points when I felt the story a bit slow going so I had a bit of a break. I think that was down to the very complicated plot as opposed to the quality of the writing, I just needed time for it to sink in!
