To start off, I have to be completely honest and admit that I forgot to de-tick the option that allowed me to be entered into the competition to win this book. Therefore, I was quite reluctant to start reading the book as historical fiction isn't my cup of tea.
My second admission is that I failed to get more than a third through the book. I really tried to continue, but I found the story very hard to follow because I hadn't read the previous novel in the series, and it didn't make sense as a stand-alone story. The pace of the plot also seemed to drag! On a more positive note, I thought that the cover was lovely.
Although this book wasn't for me for various reasons, I'm sure that fans of the first book would enjoy this sequel.
