I know of Robert Peston from his TV features as a political journalist so was intrigued to know he had written his first novel. The novel captured me straight away and I thought it would be a straight up political journalism feature until the unexpected incident involving Gil’s family. The breadcrumbs left by Peston that hint to a bigger plot line have me intrigued to discover more and to keep reading. This is a really good opener and the level of build up of character building and plot development is brilliant.
