To be honest I was drawn into this by the fact that it was written by the ITV political journalist, Robert Peston - a well known name goes a long way! Having said that I did think that, if you knew him well, you might try to match up the traits of the characters with those real-life politicians or journalists that Peston works alongside! You can also imagine him reading the story out to you in his well known voice...
As a story this felt a bit like a lot of other political thrillers, and didn't feel like an especially original idea. An interesting story, although I'd be keen to know whether Peston is relying on his own experience as a journalist to uncover stories before they are officially released by politicians, who knows! It would be interesting to know whether or not this is the case or whether he's played fast and loose with his own factual experiences.
