I must admit that I’m not a tremendous fan of Robert Preston’s style of presentation on the TV.
Often when you read novels or articles by a well know personality, or even more so by a friend, you can almost hear them reading the text to you. Thankfully this was not the case with The Whistle Blower.
However it’s still easy to place Robert as the Journalist in the novel and imagine that he is giving you an insight into his own life as a political journalist, although at times you hope this is not the case.
I’m a great fan of the Robert Harris historical novels which often must have involved a great deal research to enable such vivid descriptions.
I presume Robert Preston is relying on his own experience to describe the methods used by journalist to uncover stories even before they are released by the politicians. Intertwine this with the journalists personal life and you have an intriguing story.
