The plot and the story were good and believable in most parts BUT the characters AND style of writing lacked a lot.
Surely not all journalists are drug users-I can understand the alcohol-and not all politicians are having sexual relations with either sex!
The first half of the book seemed to be about "me,me,me" and surely Mr.Peston could have been more inventive of the name of his main character's newspaper.
It was only half way through the book when Jess and her boss started delving into the reason his sister was killed that the story became interesting BUT again why was there no official investigation-especially as the lady was a senior Treasury official and was tipped for higher things-the possible next Prime Minister!
For a first novel and for a person like Mr.Peston just to use and interpret the facts of the time to his advantage-I know he could not use the real names but for me it spoilt the novel=SORRY!!!
