Wow! This is the first time I have had to really sit back and evaluate how I sum up this book by Robert Peston.
I have to admit, that at first, I found it a really slow burn. So much so I contemplated giving up on it. Yes, having a great deal of respect of Robert Peston the journalist decided to stick with it.
Do so! It’s a fascinating insight into the world of politics. More so than you can even imagine.
As I took a deep breath as I closed the book I remain undecided as to it’s ending, other than to say it’s a clever, inspired piece of writing and has the honour of being the first book to leave me deeply thoughtful.
It’s clever writing. It has taken someone close to power to convey both human good and human corruptness. It’s salutary and definitely worth taking off the bookshelf and giving it a go.
