I do enjoy political stories and realistic novels. In respect of this hook, it also helped that I knew of Robert Peston from the media and have seen some of his coverage before and appreciate his work.

The book was a good thriller with a lot of twists and turns. I felt as though I was engaged the whole way through. I thought that the book had good character development but perhaps this could have been built up a little more. I felt as though there was real life inspiration for the characters and this was quite funny.

I will say there are a lot of characters to get your head around in this book but once you are through it is a genuinely well written, witty novel with intrigue, good twists, corruption, sorrow and just and overarching drive for good to win out in the end! I think that the book really benefits from the author’s first hand experience and knowledge about what he is discussing.
