I think the title makes it out to be more interesting than it turned out to be. There's only so much sexing up you can do around pension tax reform, and adding in a murder probably was it.

The author clearly knows his subject matter, i confess to not being familiar with the name as politics bores me. We are treated to a closer look at the inner workings of parliament, newsrooms and the various locations outside of these that are frequented by the main protaganists during the day and out of hours, although do they ever stop working even at night? Add in an upcoming election and the usual battle between Tories and Labour and it just didn't really liven up for me.

We are treated to a lot of Brand name dropping, which i have to be honest meant nothing to me most of the time but served more to annoy me that the author felt the need to drop certain brand names in which i presume were big at the time (late 90s). Only once did one of the names have a slight use in the plot to identify someone in a photo we had already met earlier wearing the exact same brand jacket.

We get a brief bit of proper action at the end but the final chase didn't really have the proper payoff for me, and the reveal was a bit who cares.
