I received my advanced copy of this incredibly late and it had already been released. I then heard a lot of negative reports about it which made me move this to the back of my pile. I eventually picked it up and at first struggled to understand why there had been so much negativity around it - I felt it got to a good start with plenty of action, then it just dragged. I have found the story-line boring and some of the comments sexist. I have tried to think that this has been done purposefully to ensure that we as the reader get a feel for what the political world and media world is like, but it just didn't sit right with me. Not just sexist but also times where it was shocking that someone was gay and had to be hidden - it's 2022, yes there is still some stigma but books normalising this behaviour really just don't sit right with me.

I usually read around 5 books a month - it has taken me a month to get to the end of this one. Everytime I pick it up, I fall to sleep.

Really disappointed as I actually like Robert Peston and had high hopes after seeing him in interview about this book.
