I'm not sure this book would be gathering so much attention if it wasn't written by the ITV Political Journalist Robert Peston (journalists are celebrities now too I suppose). I'm sure many readers will have lots of fun trying to equate the traits/mannerisms of certain characters and trying to work outwhich real life Politicians and Journalists have influenced them. And that's probably why this will do well.

But as a fiction book it's okay, but not great. The plot feels a little derivative of lots of other political thrillers and this doesn't particularly feel like a ground-breaking fresh new voice in the genre. It's not really offering anything different to any number of other books out there in the same genre, but it's success is guaranteed thanks to the name on the front cover. It's an interesting enough read but I wasn't wowed by it.
