When I wrote my first impression, I believed this book had great potential. And although I enjoyed the story, something was lacking. The first half started slow, but then picked up. I think the main improvement and feedback I'd give is that the characters could have been better. There were too many names to characters that didn't add much. However, I found the plot exciting and gripping. I enjoyed the political side to it and found that the main characters were interesting. When Gil’s estranged sister Clare dies in an apparent hit-and-run I started to get into the story. The stakes were raised and it became more than just a run up to an election. The family drama, media links, corruption, inner workings of politics and the spins of the story. This book became hard to put down. In the end, this story was engaging and good. I would recommend.
