A nice read
The Winter Baby is a family saga set in the early 1900s, centered around the family goings on at Home Farm. The story starts when a young Irish girl, Kathleen, is found wandering nearby and taken into the farm.
I struggled to understand the romantic relationships in the book, and it felt like people fell in love too quickly. I also felt that the writing around these relationships was a bit emotionless; however, I do wonder if this is due to the time period the book is set.
Overall I liked the book, and the characters grew on me over time. I found that the first 100 pages or so went a little slowly, but the pace quickened and by the end of the book I really did enjoy following what happened to the family.
