a beauty- but a bit of polishing wouldn't hurt

This was a hard book to review since I admired the writing and the premise behind it and there were times where sparks of ingenuity were seen. At the same time, nevertheless, it was one of those books that left me undecided about how I felt at the end of it. The implementation I feel could have been cleaner, and it could have been a book that flourished from being longer, as there were ideas and scenes that felt a little imagined, but if they had been expanded just a little, I feel they would have succeeded. And I mean that in the most complimentary way possible- perhaps I didn't interpret it in quite the intended way but that is limpidly how I felt about it.
I loved the concept that it provided.
For all of that, I enjoyed this novel, however, and it was a letter of love to language and vocabulary, and such an interesting, peculiar idea, that I'm happy I gave it a go.
