This book is nothing like I have read before. I really though the idea behind it was fantastic; the story of a word in search for its' meaning. It was a tad confused at first, but when I got into the story a bit more I got where the story was coming from and what all the stops on the journey for the Word meant. From the view of someone who spent years studying words, the idea of a word having conscious thought is really interesting. the other words and wordlets that the Word meets along the way all have something to contribute to the meaning and the importance of words. With Deaf using other small words to make them heard was quite amusing, considering at how many words they would have to use to have a full conversation. Deaf is only limited to how many other words it can fit in the house. The idea that humans literally butcher words when we speak them and words love it when we sing them, is such an interesting concept. I would say you need to focus a bit to not get confused as to why we are reading the perspective of a word and the metanarrative surrounding it, but really this manageable novel is such a refreshing read.
