I really don't know how to review this book - it genuinely is like nothing else I've ever read before.
Firstly it's a cute, paperback sized, "hardback" but feels kind of soft. Just it handle it is to realise it's something different. It feels different, looks different and is simply very very different.
We follow the word as she tries to find her place in the world. From one minute being cosily sat at the dining table with her parents to suddenly being thrust through the vocal chords and left in the wide world without any memory of who she is or what she's called.
It's a tale of linguistic gymnastics, of grammar, of pronouns, nouns and vast storytelling in the city of Langwich.
It's about finding your place, meeting your match and discovering your whole and your power. It's beautifully illustrated and just wildly fantastical. Yet I felt somewhat confused by the whole thing.
My general feeling is that I missed the point the first time around but that it's a book that probably requires to be read several times to appreciate it's full charm.
