Its a really interesting concept that delves into the world of language and how it is used. The number of literary puns and inclusions is amazing. I loved reading through and reading about 'verbal tea' and other like puns. This is especially amazing as it was translated from German so a lot of these had to be re-written.

The book is very pretty with lots of cute illustrations depicting what is happening. the chapter title pages are very elegant.

As for the writing of the book it does feel a little clumsy. In places it doesn't quite flow perfectly and feels as through the writer is stumbling forward and can be a little cringeworthy. Also there is a small issue of a few pronoun inconsistencies mainly in the first chapter, deaf is called both he and they and the word is called he and it. This is especially confusing later on (but I wont explain more so I don't spoil it!) The character of deaf was very intriguing. I liked the concept of his communication system and him rearranging himself. I would have liked to see him more present throughout the book or at least more than just the first chapter. The end seems a little rushed and (spoiler alert) I don't think we find out what the words name is though we are told we will. That is quite disappointing as it feels like the whole point to the story.

Though saying that I like the concept that the reason for every story is to keep words alive and that without a story the world doesn't exist.
