Firstly, it is worth saying that the physical book is a thing of beauty. The debossed detail on the cover, paper quality and fabric bookmark really stood out for me. It makes sense that a book about the love of language should be a labour of love itself. The story was a refreshing change from the type of thing I'd usually read. It was light hearted and the story was simple, not too involved but still had an important message about the power and longevity of language. It had definite tones of Alice in wonderland woven throughout which gave it a surrealist feel. I enjoyed the personification of words and parts of speech as akin to humans.
I think what's really impressive about this book is that it has been translated from its original German, which must have been a real challenge due to the word play and exploring idioms, parts of speech etc. If you're a lover of language this will really appeal to you, as it does to me.
