The cover speaks of positivity - the sun rising, the roof down on the car indicating freedom, being unenclosed. The road ahead is clear - nothing to stop them. The cover chimes with the prologue perfectly.

Denise - a woman being drowned by family worries, her children, her in-laws, her mother. Constant work pressure, e-mails, trying to juggle everything, fretting over petty nothings. Concerned about what the neighbours think even though they barely speak to each other - just bland pleasantries. Yet she is also trying to convince herself that she is fortunate, a perfect happy family with everything they want - buy she is not happy.

Thea - a woman who is moving on from a broken marriage, living in an expensive apartment she is just about able to pay the mortgage on. Trying to reinvent herself, to live a better life than she has had in the past - she has a scar as a reminder. Thea is taking control of her life and is dating again, even though she is comparing her date to her ex.

Thea and Denise have been brought together and have ended up going on a road trip to discover themselves, they have passed the border into Scotland.

A beautifully evocative and flowing piece of fiction about who we are and where we are going in our lives.
