I was immediately attracted to this from the cover and title - it looked so carefree and happy-go-lucky but, actually what I found inside was so much more than this, so much deeper and more emotionally complex.

Thea and Denise’s lives were not carefree, they had worries, issues, thoughts and concerns and the way they shared these together strengthened their friendship and their bond. They discussed the most serious of their problems, their relationships and their families, the mistakes they had made and their hopes for the future. The honesty and openness they shared with one another was very enviable and special.

It wasn't always as easy for them to open up to one another, as they got to know each other more on their trip, their trust grew, and with it their friendship. The power of the female friendship and sisterhood so real and written so well. I loved Thea and Denise's escapades together; their sense of adventure and escapism. I felt taken along for the ride and enjoyed getting to know each of them more - my suspicions about them proven to be true; it's an emotionally touching book.

It's not all fun and adventure though, some really serious issues are covered in the book and it feels a really genuine and honest account of issues the characters faced and how support and friendship can get us through the worst and the most challenging of times.

I’ve read several of Caroline Bond’s books now and she writes such wonderful character-driven stories so well. This was a book that I looked forward to picking up each time I read, I enjoyed my time with these characters and felt it a privilege to get to know them.

This is a book I’ve already recommended to those that like a thoughtful, and meaningful story.
