This book centres on two women Thea and Denise, both at a similar stage in their lives.
Thea lives with her teenage daughter Ella in an apartment, after separating from her husband, she loves her apartment, especially the fact that she can look down on everyone on street level below, after spending her life being looked down on.
Denise is married to Simon and has three teenage sons Aaron, Lewis and Joe. She is also suffering greatly with symptoms of the menopause. Both women have one thing in common, they both have a relative in the nearby care home, Denise has her father in law Eric, and Thea her mother Nancy. Thea's daughter Ella decides that living with her father and his new family is much more fun than living with her mum. Both women feel that they have the world on their shoulders and when Thea suggests going on a road trip together, Denise initially declines, but when things come to a head with Denise and her whole life as it is at the moment, she just has to put space between herself and everyday life, life where freezers break and family life is just horrendous. So one evening after a "bad " goodbye between Ella and Thea, they are off in Thea's mini on their road trip to goodness knows where, but they are away from family, life, work and elderly parents. After some time exploring together and visiting venues to make themselves feel better with their family lives, such as they are, and also it begins a strong friendship that will last many years and gradually they start to feel more at peace with their lives and themselves and decisions have to be made, decisions that are right for Thea and Denise and not for anyone else.

A tale of two women's self discovery, of finding out about themselves and what they need from their lives both right now and in the future, and also mainly of friendships and how important they are to women of all ages.
I really enjoyed reading this book and I'm sure many women will relate to Thea and Denise at the different and sometimes difficult stages of their lives. Another addictive and relatable book from Caroline Bond, a 5 ☆ read.
