Not my usual genre of book but I was immediately drawn to this and couldn't help but reflect on Thelma and Louisa which played a part in me picking up this book. The story is about two adults who lead different lives but crave something else, a bit of excitement and escapism in their mundane adult lives. The two connect and realise they both want the same thing and so decide to go on road trip to find themselves and have some adventure along the way.
The characters themselves, Thea and Denise, are different and find that by escaping the everyday they can learn to let go and have fun again. The characters develop and are relatable, which always help draw you into their lives as the story progresses.
The book has some similarities to Thelma and Louis but this takes you on a deeper understanding of them as people and ultimately they do not drive off a cliff!
