Having read Caroline Bonds previous books I was looking forward to reading this one.

However, I found the plot just meandered and it did not keep my interest for long enough and I struggled to read it. I did persevere and completed it but the whole book left me totally disappointed. it was certainly not what I was expecting.

Perhaps for me it was one too many books for an author to read in quick succession, which I had found previously with other authors and maybe I shouldn't have entered the First Impressions draw.

The characters were well built up and you got the usual real life situations built into the story that you know normally exist in real life, like a Husband not being interested in his wife's welfare until it directly affects him. Also the bitterness held by an ex-wife when here previous husband finds happiness elsewhere.

On the whole I am not likely to read another of her books for a while and maybe when I do I should reread this one. A particular previous Author has been Wilbur Smith and after a long break I have gone back and read some later books and found them very interesting
