The cover and title of this book immediately gave me the impression that the characters were going to run off into the sunset like Thelma and Louise so I thoughtI would love this book. However I struggled to connect to Thea and Denise. They both annoyed me a bit if I'm being honest.
Thea and Denise are both middle aged, dealing with ageing parents, teenage children. Thea is divorced and Denise appears to be unhappy in her marriage. The two ladies randomly meet and then meet again and form a friendship which leads them to setting off on an adventure together when they have had enough of their normal lives. I enjoyed the start of the book but found I spent quite a lot of the book waiting for something else to happen. I did like the part that was set in Bamburgh as I've spent time there and could picture the beach and castle in my head while I was reading.
