Thea and Denise are wonderful characters. And I enjoyed their found friendship a lot. They become friends after several small meetings and links that they share and take off on an adventure.
Both characters have their own personal issues and secrets and are quite different in personality. Thea is pretty outgoing yet seems so lonely. Denise is less confident and stuck in a rut in her life and marriage and the excitement of Thea brings something more to her. And the way they were able to help each other shows the power of female friendships, particularly as you get older.
This is the second of Caroline Bond’s books I have read and I enjoyed them both so much. She is able to really build and develop her characters, and make you root for them. I need to go back and try her previous novels now.
The chapters are short, making it an easy and quick read. The book itself has a lot of heart and a truly lovely friendship to carry it to its conclusion.
