Caroline Bond’s books are always enjoyable and uplifting. Each one deals with a different aspect of life in a real and touching way. Thea and Denise is, as the title suggests, similar to Thelma and Louise, in as much as it is about two middle aged women who run away from their ‘normal’ lives by embarking on a road trip together and sharing new experiences.
Thea has survived cancer but not a broken marriage and a difficult relationship with her only daughter. Denise is menopausal and feels taken for granted by her husband and three teenage sons.
The geography and experiences on their road trip are accurate and interesting - obviously we’ll researched.
My only criticism of this book is the disappointing number of typographical errors which should have been corrected before printing.
The last section is entitled The Ending? Which suggests that it is just one possibility and the author has left the reader the option of finishing the book as they would like.
