Wow, this book held me in its grasp and I found myself growing to love Thea and Denise. I found Thea at first quite hard to like, she had her defences up like a minefield, her edges where sharp and pointy and also her grim determination to hold on to her daughter even if her daughter hated her meant that she couldn’t see the damage she was causing. When she finally realised it was too late she decided to leave and head off on a road trip to end all road trips…. But did not depend on her growing and incredible friendship Denise and how she helps her to see that running away is all well and good to get perspective but sometimes you need to face your fears and face yourself and that you don’t need to do it alone. This is such a wonderful and brilliant novel not just about women and their relationships with family, work and life in general but women friendships the ones that gives us the strength and our safety net and are there for us whenever and also can and will tell us straight if we are being an idiot. Perfect for fans of Thelma and Louise.
