Thea and Denise was slow to start with, but packed a powerful punch in the end.

I enjoyed the build-up of their relationship, from strangers to best friends, and how shared experiences paved the way for their friendship. This was a beautiful story of how sometimes relationships that aren't romantic are just as important and powerful as the relationship between lovers.

There was a dynamism to the writing; we were waiting for the end, and that finality, the whole way through. In the end this was never reached, with the author choosing a happier ending to what was hinted at throughout.

Overall, I very much enjoyed the story and getting to know the two characters. I'd recommend this novel, not only to middle-aged readers (who might be the target audience) but younger readers too, as this serves as a reminder that life goes on and on, and new relationships are forged, until the very end.
