Thea outwardly seems to have it all, lovely apartment, good job, freedom whereas Denise is bogged down with business worries, her ailing marriage, domestic chores, her teen sons.
But when these two women meet its like a spark is set off, poles apart and totally diametric in every way as regards nature and personality, remarkably from their first meeting they become friends of a sort.
When Thea suggests a road trip Denise escapes the confines of marriage and domesticity.
Ostensibly on the surface just a quick break away for both women they each have very different reasons for taking off across the country but Thea's is much darker than Denise could have imagined.
This was touching, laugh out loud funny yet empathetic in its portrayal of both characters.
Each lady brings to the friendship what the other is missing, though chalk and cheese they each need each other at this point of their lives.
Wonderfully written and I couldn't put it down, hence writing this at nearly 3am!
